How to Delete an eBay Listing — Single, Bulk & Sold Items
Three ways to delete eBay listings depending on volume — end one item in Seller Hub, bulk delete hundreds with File Exchange, and what actually happens to sold and ended listings.
Deleting an eBay listing is called "ending" it. The listing stops appearing in search, buyers can no longer purchase, and any Good 'Til Canceled auto-relinking stops. But the method you should use depends on how many listings you need to remove: one stale item is a two-click job in Seller Hub, while clearing a thousand listings after a season or a supplier change calls for a bulk End file. This guide covers every scenario — single deletions, bulk deletion, sold items, drafts, and the auction rules that trip up new sellers.
Three Ways to Delete eBay Listings
Pick the method that matches your volume. All three end listings permanently from search — none of them delete your sales data.
End a Single Listing (Seller Hub)
Best for: 1–10 items
- 1.Seller Hub → Listings → find the item (search by title or SKU)
- 2.Open the Actions dropdown on that row
- 3.Click 'End listing' and confirm
- 4.Fixed-price listings end instantly, free of charge
Auctions with bids have restrictions — see the auction rules section below.
Bulk End with Multi-Select (Seller Hub)
Best for: 10–200 items
- 1.Filter your listings first (status, format, category)
- 2.Tick the checkbox at the top of the list to select all filtered rows
- 3.Actions → 'End listings' → confirm
- 4.eBay processes the batch; large selections may take a few minutes
Pagination limits apply — for thousands of items, use File Exchange instead.
File Exchange 'End' File
Best for: 200+ items or recurring cleanup
- 1.Download the File Exchange 'End' template from Seller Hub
- 2.Fill one row per listing: Action(SiteID) = End, plus ItemID
- 3.Upload via Listings → File Exchange
- 4.Download the results file to verify every row ended

When eBay Won't Let You Delete a Listing
No bids placed
You can end the auction at any time with no penalty. Listing fees are not refunded for multi-quantity fixed-price or auction listings, but there is no additional charge to end.
Bids placed, more than 12 hours left
You can end the listing early, but eBay charges the insertion fee again if you relist, and repeatedly ending auctions with bids can flag your account. Cancel bids first via the listing's bid history if the item is no longer available.
Bids placed, less than 12 hours left
eBay restricts ending auctions in the final 12 hours when bids exist. Exceptions: the item is lost or damaged, or the description changed materially. Otherwise you must let the auction run its course.
Item already sold
Once a buyer has purchased, you can no longer 'delete' the listing — you must either fulfill the order or cancel the transaction and refund. Frequent order cancellations hurt your seller metrics, so end listings before a sale whenever inventory is gone.
Related: ending an auction you no longer want to run is different from canceling a bid, and both are different from canceling an order after a sale. See our guide to canceling and ending eBay listings early for the full decision tree.
Why Sellers Bulk-Delete Listings (and What to Watch Out For)
Seasonal rotation & stale inventory
Good 'Til Canceled listings auto-renew every 30 days and quietly accumulate insertion-fee credit usage on stores with limits. Sellers rotating seasonal catalogs routinely delete eBay listings in bulk each quarter — a thousand-row End file takes minutes, while clicking through Seller Hub takes hours.
Supplier or sourcing changes
When a supplier discontinues a product line, every live listing tied to it becomes a liability — a buyer can purchase stock you can no longer source. Bulk-ending the affected listings before they sell avoids canceling orders later, which damages seller metrics far more than ending a listing ever does.
The 90-day window
Ended listings stay in your account for about 90 days, and you can relist or Sell Similar from that history — deleting a listing is not permanent destruction. If you plan to relist the same items, note the ItemIDs before you bulk delete so relisting later is a one-click job per item.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I delete an eBay listing?▼
To delete an eBay listing, sign in to Seller Hub, go to Listings, find the item, open the Actions dropdown, and select 'End listing'. Fixed-price listings end immediately with no fee. Auction listings with bids can only be ended under specific conditions — eBay restricts ending auctions in the final 12 hours if bids exist. Ended listings move to the Ended section of your dashboard but are not permanently deleted from eBay's records.
Can I delete multiple eBay listings at once?▼
Yes. In Seller Hub, go to Listings, tick the checkbox at the top of the list to select all visible listings (or filter first, then select), open the Actions menu, and choose 'End listings'. For hundreds or thousands of listings, use eBay File Exchange with the 'End' action template — one row per ItemID — or upload your ItemID list to ListingHubs, which formats and submits the End file for you.
What is the difference between deleting a listing and unselling an item?▼
Deleting (ending) a listing removes it from search and purchase — the listing will no longer accept buyers. 'Unselling' or canceling an order happens after a buyer has purchased: you cancel the transaction itself and refund the buyer. These are separate actions in eBay Seller Hub. Ending a listing is a pre-sale action; canceling an order is a post-sale action that affects your service metrics if over 0.5% of orders are canceled.
Do deleted eBay listings affect my sales history or seller rating?▼
No. Ending a listing does not remove the listing from eBay's database — it stays in your Ended listings for up to 90 days, and sold items remain in your sales records. Ending an unsold fixed-price listing simply stops it. One caveat: canceling a paid order (not just deleting a listing) counts against your transaction defect rate if it exceeds eBay's thresholds, so delete before a sale whenever possible.
How do I delete sold listings from my active list?▼
Sold listings move to the Sold section automatically — you never need to delete them from active listings. If a fixed-price listing with quantity greater than 1 has remaining stock, it stays active until you end it or inventory reaches zero. To clear ended or sold items from your view, use the status filter in Seller Hub rather than trying to delete them permanently.
Can I delete an eBay listing from my phone?▼
Yes. In the eBay app, tap Selling, find the listing, tap it, scroll to the options menu, and choose 'End listing'. The mobile app supports ending one listing at a time — for bulk deletion of dozens or hundreds of listings, use the desktop Seller Hub multi-select or a File Exchange End file, which you can prepare in ListingHubs from any device.
Deleting 500 listings by hand? Don't.
Paste your ItemIDs and ListingHubs builds the File Exchange End file for you — correctly formatted, verified row by row.
